In 1986 this midieval textile was donated to the Hartford Symphany Orchestra by Princess Cecelia de Medici-Horwitz; it was in her family chateau in France for many generations. Linen tabby foundation, polychrome silk embroidery, ground in shades of gold,w/ figs, birds & garden flowers among scrolls surrounding center of purple grape clusters, 3.25" embroidered frame, 58.75"x101.25", tan canvas backing, (significant silk loss, especially at top & bottom) fair. Complete provenance documentation provided.
